OneLIFE mission 2019
More than 15 Bishops have so far signed up for the One Life mission taking place in Southwell & Nottingham in the middle of September.
Every church is invited to take part in the mission, which will be a catalyst for a whole range of activities and events designed to share the Good News of Jesus with communities across the diocese.
Led by the Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, and working with Bishops Paul and Tony, the visitors will support activities planned by local churches – and it is expected that there will be a lot of them.
Examples of events that have proved successful in the past include quiz nights, walks, open mic nights, photographic exhibitions, sporting competitions, pet services, slot car racing, beetle drives, and many occasions involving food, from men’s breakfasts to afternoon teas and pie suppers.
Bishop Tony, who has been on previous missions with the Archbishop, taking teams to Sheffield, Durham, Blackburn, Carlisle and Newcastle, said: “It is a marvellous opportunity for churches to look at new ways of reaching out to people on the fringes.
“It doesn’t have to be a major event, something simple, well thought out and sustainable is often the best option.”
St.Mary’s will be focussing on Messy Church as this would normally take place on this particular weekend. We'll let you have more information nearer the event.
Details of other events in the Diocese are given below.
A prayer for OneLIFE
We pray for the One LIFE Mission with the Archbishop of York and all the northern Bishops. Father God, help us to reach out in faith and love and witness to all. By your Spirit help us grow in unity, grow as followers of Jesus Christ, and grow your Kingdom in Southwell & Nottingham. Amen
