Update end January 2021
Coronavirus
From the Church Wardens
Well Christmas is
over, and we are into the New Year already.
David and I just
want to update you, keep you in the picture about how things have been going.
We are having trouble with the Family Centre door which is now beyond repair
which we are looking to replace. The church clock will be serviced soon.
Just to let you know
the church has been flood-lit over Christmas during the evenings to shine into
the darkness and give a little cheer and reassurance that the church is still
here for the community.
Although the lights
inside St. Mary’s rarely shine during this time of Lockdown no.3, there is a
very strong beating heart within.
Our 10.30am Sunday
morning Zoom, service is very well attended with numbers easily matching and
beyond those seen before the Pandemic. From babes in arms to our most senior
members who have taken the plunge into this new world of communication. Those
who do not have a computer join us by telephone to listen in, and this is
proving to be a huge blessing to our fellowship in worshipping Jesus. We are
also keeping in touch by telephone and email.
During Advent Vicar
Margaret led many of us in a series of 5 quiet Weekly Advent reflections in
preparation for the Christmas season.
On the run up to
Christmas we also had a successful Christmas Messy Church, a Christingle and Crib
Service, Rock Solid and R2 Christmas Parties and we had a wonderful Carol Service
all via Zoom.
Messy Church, R2 and
Rock Solid all resume meetings this month via Zoom It’s such a joy to see the
children engaging in these events.
Just before
Christmas, Afternoon Teas were delivered to the homes of our senior afternoon
tea group. And beautifully presented goodwill packages of homemade biscuits
were delivered to 9.15am service goers.
Just to remind folks
that Church continues to be open for private prayer on Wednesday Afternoons
2-3pm.
And that we gather
on Zoom every Sunday at 10.30am
Also via Zoom, a
Lent course is beginning on Ash Wednesday 17th February at 7.30pm
for five weeks. Vicar Margaret will lead us in taking A Fresh Look at Lent,
which will take us up to Holy Week.
If you have any
concerns do get in touch with us
David Rodgers and
Liz Turley.
