Update September

Coronavirus
From Vicar Margaret and the Church Wardens

The systems we have put in place over the last few months to help us cope as a church during lockdown seem to be working fairly well.

These have included teams for visiting those isolated at home, the emailing of news sheets and Compass, posting and delivering communications and news. Our new Communications Manager, Phil Howcroft, will be assisting with  this.

We are planning to print our Compass magazine at the end of October and details are now being worked out on how to do this safely.

We have been conducting pastoral conversations and prayers over the phone and conducting a Zoom service at 10.30am on Sunday mornings. Also we have held standing committee, PCC and APCM meetings by Zoom and at least one home group meets by Zoom. We have also kept in touch with Family Centre user groups and updated them with any news.

The Church and Family Centre have both been deep cleaned. The Church Tower Room has been completely refurbished with new carpets and wardrobes. Safety and sanitising procedures are in place for all those coming into Church and so we are now set up for reopening subject to any new Government and Church of England guidelines.

St Mary’s Preschool opened in September and the Dogs Trust Group will start again in early October.

The Church opened in the middle of September on Wednesday afternoons for Prayer and the first service on a Sunday morning took place at the end of September. We are now proposing to continue with the Sunday morning services at 10.30 am in Church but add a Zoom Service on Wednesday evenings at 7.00 pm for those who still feel nervous going to ‘Live’ events. More information on this will become available shortly.

If you are in difficulty and require assistance, please contact the church wardens or the Vicar. But we still need to be church and we do this by staying in contact by phone or email. By prayer and by acts of service where possible.

Please observe personal distancing and other hygiene directives.

All notices and information will be available on our website and Facebook page for
those with computers.
